It’s funny, as I sit down to write about this baby girl, I am flooded with memories, visions really, as I can’t recall particular instances, just flashes in my mind of little girls with leotards and bare legs running barefoot down yellow tumbling mats, jumping onto a spring board and then high into the air splitting legs into an airborne straddle split, one after another. Jump, jump, jump, ponytails flying and then a hard thump from the landing, one by one, onto the blue landing mat, finishing with the gymnast salute. I can almost hear all the sounds mixing together, the footsteps down the mat, the smack from the impact on the board and the thud of the landing… That was nearly 25 years ago. This baby’s mama, beautiful Danielle, and I grew up together in the same small town, Fort Morgan. And from dance recitals and gymnastic meets we grew up, went to middle school, then high school, and then out into the world in totally different directions. And here we are all these years later, practically in the same Zip Code!
In a flash, I am at Standley Lake with Danielle, mere hours (literally) before she gave birth to Izabella, taking Maternity photos! That might as well have been yesterday. Except Izzy is already 9 months old. Time is a funny thing…
It’s the history I have with Danielle that makes me extra excited every-time I get to photograph baby Izzy and the whole family, and this session was no exception! Their new home is adorable and it was so fun to see Izzy in her own space, playing through the slats in her crib with Daddy, and then crawling all over the place and pulling down all her favorite books, which is all of them.
We went to the park and played on the swings and in the grass and baby Izzy was such a good sport! These photos remind me that life really does goes on. And the time just keeps moving faster with each passing year. Danielle and Jim are doing something so special for their daughter and she has no idea. These photos of her baby-hood will be priceless to her one day. I’m sure of it. I love that about what I do… Can’t wait to see them all again in a few days, I mean a few months, for the year old session! Love you guys!
