Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

Q: What are your prices?

A: I won't dodge the pricing question.  My couples spend anywhere between $5,000 to well over $10,000 to hire me.  These couples have a high level of respect and passion for truly good photography.  It's not that they have more money than the average couple.  It's more about understanding that after the delicious food gets digested and amazing flowers wilt and die, the photography lives on.  It's the photography that has the power to always remind us of the celebration of love and the promises made on the wedding day.  In a way, these couples are making an investment in their very first family heirlooms.  Please contact me so we can sit down and  customize a package that delivers you the best value.

Q: How many weddings do you book a year?

A: I will be collaborating with less than 10 couples in 2018.  Yep. That's it.  First come, first serve.  My work is extremely important to me and after shooting hundreds of weddings over the last 15 years, I've learned something about myself:  the fewer weddings I shoot in a year, the better the product. I will be fresh, present, and truly enthusiastic to be with you on your wedding day.

Q: Why I should choose Frances Photography for my wedding photography?

A1: Photographs are important to you. Like really important.Like waaaay more important than a few extra appetizers at the reception.

A2: You want ALL of your wedding photos to be IN FOCUS (you’d be surprised!)

A3: You like it when people post words and phrases like OMG and EPIC and DROP MIC when commenting on photography.

A4: My images speak to you in a certain way. You appreciate how they appear more lively, evocative, and imaginative than others you’ve seen.

A5: You’re salt of the earth peeps and love to have fun! The proof is in the pudding. Most of my besties were once clients of mine.

A6: You wonder what that second shooter person does all day? And what does “second” mean anyway? Let’s chat about this as I have a strong opinion on it!

A7:You want to collaborate with the artist directly – over a sav blanc or Colorado craft brew – and really hope she brings her trusty sidekick Bodhi!

Q: What makes you different than other Denver photographers? Than other Colorado photographers? Than other wedding photographers in general?

A1: There are A LOT of people moving to Colorado these days. Some of them are photographers. One thing that sets me a part is the amount of experience I have here. I grew up in Colorado and I’ve shot hundreds of weddings both in Denver and in the Rocky Mountains. I have built some great relationships over time with the Colorado wedding venues and vendors. And if you plan on shooting at any wedding venues in Colorado, especially in mountain wedding venues, you MUST have substantial experience with the weather. Colorado weather can change on a dime!

A2: As far as me vs. the thousands who shoot wedding photography around the country? It’s probably my sense of adventure. It’s a sense of adventure & wonder that can only be born and bred in a place like Colorado.

Q: What is your photographic style?

A: My goal is to deliver timeless images that will be as relevant in 50 years as they are today. I would use words like classic, emotional, spontaneous, and surprising to describe my images.

Q: I’ve heard the personality of the wedding photographer is important. Do you agree?

A: YES! Most certainly YES! Not only are you going to spend 8-9 hours with this person on your wedding day, but truly, a piece of the photographer can be found in every single one of your photos. Think about that!

Q: Do you have any favorite wedding venues in Colorado?

A: There are some truly inspiring places to get married in this wonderful state. If wedding photography is really important to you (which it should be!), then I’d be happy to walk through the pros and cons of your chosen wedding venue from a photographer’s perspective. Things like time of year and time of day can have a tremendous impact on the look and feel of your wedding photographs – especially in Colorado!

Q: Do you travel?

A: Don’t get me wrong, us Denver photographers love our Mile High city and our Rocky Mountains. However, it’s always an extreme honor to be selected to travel with a couple to some magical wedding destination. My passport is always ready to rock and roll.

Q: What about my uncle? Or my BFF? She just got the new iPhone. Is it cool if one of them serves as my wedding photographer?

A: I’m sure your uncle is the bomb and if it’s rose gold, your BFF’s iPhone can take some nice images. But being a professional wedding photographer requires so much more. There’s only one chance to get this right. You’re not coming back to get married again tomorrow. Through the immense amount of experience I’ve had, I’m able to get your shots in the most unpredictable of situations. I’ve spent years honing my craft and have put in blood, sweat, and tears to learn how to take control of the shot and truly create art.

Q: Do you do anything different or special for bridal photography?

A: Yep. Sure do. In addition to being a boss at getting the BFF images, I offer a bridal boudoir package.

Q: How many wedding photos do we receive?

A: Along with the limited number of weddings I shoot every year, I’ve cut back on the number of photos my couples receive. I kicked ordinary to the curb some time ago. The “must have” shots will be there, but I’d rather present you with 750-1000 awesome epic, drop mic photographs than 1,500 you’ll never, ever, ever look at again.

Q: Do you have any final advice about choosing a wedding photographer?

A: Talk to them in person. Seriously. You can spend hours looking at website photos and I certainly encourage you to do that. But I want to create relationships with my clients and that starts with a face to face chat.

Q: Why should I get a wedding album? They sound so expensive!

A: We live in a digital age where photographs via social media or saved on our computers.  They are rarely displayed in our homes. As technology changes and evolves, digital files will eventually become obsolete. A wedding album is something tangible that will bring you back to your wedding day time and time again for not only your lifetime, but for family generations to come. Think of your wedding album as a priceless family heirloom, because, unquestionably, it will be. Regardless of which album you choose, I will guide you step by step in designing a book that you are 100% satisfied with. From cover selection, to page design, to cover imprinting, to production, I will work with you to create a unique book that is yours and yours alone. Our goal is to create the perfect album that you will be proud to show family, friends, and pass down to future generations.
