Breckenridge Wedding Extravaganza at Ten Mile Station

I know, I know, it’s nearly December and I am just now sharing my Sept. 22nd wedding.  It’s been a crazy fall to put it mildly!  But, in my defense, after four days of photography & over 10,000 images between myself, my wonderful studio manager, Julia Timmer, and my fabulous second shooter, Sarah Fischer, we’ve been literally digging out from under them all for weeks.  And, it has been worth every minute.  This extraordinary wedding weekend was truly a one of a kind! In 11 years of wedding photography, I have never seen so many spectacular details all under one roof configured with such a colorful, contemporary & vivacious style.  Ten Mile station in Breckenridge was literally transformed from a rustic outdoorsy mountain venue into a wedding wonderland more daring than even Alice would have dreamed up.  It was gorgeous inside and out, from top to bottom and side to side.  Literally.  Take that a combine it with the most spectacular fall weekend of the year.  And poof, you have pure wedding magic.

Kelly Karli, along with her darling assistant Taylor, from Frosted Pink Weddings were the extracalfragalistic executors/engineers behind our mastermind bride, Cyndi, who communicated her vision for her wedding day down to the last thread.  Design Works and LMD Productions built her dream into a reality.  And I was the lucky girl who made an instant connection to the bride within about 10 seconds of meeting her.  It was a match made from “hello.” And with a cast of over 200 people working this event and managing all of the moving parts and pieces, it went off without a hitch…well almost.  Suffice it to say that I learned my lesson the hard way regarding a certain vendor with no regard for a very precise timeline thus creating the most intense 40 minutes of low light photography following a ceremony I have experienced in my entire career.  I think I may have lost a year or two of my life that day.  And while I have always worked best under pressure… apparently even I have my limits!  But no matter, who wants to live to be 100 anyway?  ;-)   And in all seriousness, at the end of the day, the images are gorgeous, if I do say so myself.  Cyndi and Mike are married for happily ever-after!  I have two new friends and clients till death-do-us part. And all of the vendors involved can be proud to have been a part of such an extraordinary affair.  There isn’t a single one of us that will ever forget Cyndi and Mike Morey!!  And to the beautiful newly wed couple, I wish you all the love & happiness you deserve now and forever!  And…I can’t wait for your next big adventure…

A giant thank you to everyone who helped make this wedding a reality.  You are all absolutely amazing to work with!

Westin Beaver Creek Wedding: Molly & Marc Delight

I am a firm believer in “sourcing.”  Getting grounded, connecting to the earth, being present, and attracting the things I want into my life are all things I consciously work on.  The best place on earth that I have found to do this kind of spirit work is in the Colorado Rocky Mountains!  Somehow the Universe knew that in order for me to survive my action packed wedding season this year, it was going to be necessary to get me to those mountains over and over again.  Apparently the lack of snowfall last winter left me needing a little more mountain time this summer.  And while I did complain (loudly) about that, you won’t hear me begrudging the summer drive to and from Beaver Creek nearly every wedding weekend since the beginning of June.  This year I booked more Colorado mountain weddings than any wedding season prior and I have loved every single one of them!  Molly and Marc’s wedding was beyond incredible!  Not only was I photographing at a fab venue, The Westin in Beaver Creek, this couple knocked my socks off with their playful spirits and their fierce love for each 0ther, for their families, for each other’s families, and last but not least, me!  I felt like I have known this couple, and Molly especially, my entire life.  Perhaps is was the way she interacted with her sister and darling niece that reminded me of my relationship with my sister and niece? Or maybe it was just her warm and welcoming charm that reminded me of a long lost soul-sister?  Regardless, I had a blast sharing this gorgeous wedding day and capturing some truly priceless moments that I know they are going to treasure for the rest of their lives.  There is no way you can look at these images and not feel what they were feeling.  I just love that!  The lighthearted and totally complete love and joy they had bursting out of their smiles was written all over their faces from start to finish.  And truly, the energy in their passionate kisses practically jumps off the screen at you!  There is nothing I love seeing or photographing more then that.   And I can’t fail to mention that this is one couple that definitely knows how to GET DOWN with their bad selves!

I also had the pleasure of working with another coordinator that I thoroughly enjoy, Carolyn Moorman and her top-notch assistant, Kay, from Artisan Events.  Ladies your work is flawless!  Funkiphino, one of my favorite local bands, rocked the house with their killer musical talents.  And Rich Vossler, a friend and colleague, shot his heart out right next to me and grabbed some absolutely stunning captures as well. Thank you so much Rich! And THANK YOU to all of the above and also to anyone I didn’t mention. It was an unforgettable day with an even more unforgettable couple.  I feel like I am the luckiest photographer in the state.  I absolutely could not ask for more lovely clients than what I have had over and over again this year.  I’m telling you, that sourcing stuff WORKS.

Colorado Mountain Wedding Spectacular: Kelly & Connor say “I Do!”

It’s true, I am sincerely blessed in my life and in my work, especially this wonderful summer of 2012.  The clients that have hired me to photograph their weddings this year have all been beyond wonderful to work with, and Kelly & Connor and their loving families were certainly no exception.  Kelly was as beautiful and graceful a bride as any photographer could ever hope for, and her darling groom, Connor, was the epitome of genuine and love-struck.  Besides that, it was an absolutely perfect summer day and the photo ops both inside and outside were not lacking in any degree.  Kelly’s doll-like, porcelain complexion and Connor’s bright eyes full of love and admiration left nothing to be desired from my perspective.  Never mind the perfect weather, the brilliant backdrop at the top of Beaver Creek mountain, or the incredibly gracious and classy group of guests and family members, numbering close to 300.  That said, it was a big day and a huge weekend for me. All I could do was keep my camera pointed in the direction of beauty and joy and click away to my heart’s content.

When Kelly and Connor booked me for their wedding it had a lot to do with the fact that Connor is a professional photographer himself and loved and wanted my style of photography, specifically me.  While a wonderful compliment, I have to be honest, there was also more pressure to perform my A-game. Not that I don’t always have high expectations of myself & my work, but it is a little different knowing that a trained eye would be critiquing the end result.  Good thing I generally do best under pressure!  Ha!  As a trained and educated professional, it’s a different thing to be appreciated by another creative and talented photographer, which Connor certainly is!

JoAnn Moore and her lovely assistant, Mindy, from Mountains and Meadows were there every step of the way, coordinating flawlessly, as always.  Sarah Fischer was my wonderful second photographer, and I just love everything about working with her.  Our energy combined is not “double,” but instead exponentially greater!  Thank you so much to EVERYONE that helped produce this fantastic celebration.  I am absolutely honored to have been a part of such a magnificent and magical day.  Thank you first and foremost to Kelly and Connor & their families, to JoAnn and Mindy,  to Sarah, to Spruce Saddle, Vintage Magnolia, and last but not least, the Jakarta Band.  It was truly a team effort and from my point of view, we all pulled it off flawlessly.  I only hope the couple and their families agree.  Much love and all the best for your future Kelly and Connor!  I hope to see you both again soon.  Let’s go skiing together this winter! :-)

Copper Mountain Wedding: Kristyn & David

I’m so excited to share this wedding! I have photographed many Colorado mountain weddings, but these are the very first images from a Copper Mountain wedding! Let me start by saying how much FUN I had with this fantastic couple! Kristyn and David are both just awesome and I knew when I met them a year ago, that this was going to be an amazing party and really special day. And, it turns out, on June 25, 2011, it was a gorgeous, cloudless, blue-sky, blue-bird kind of day and Kristyn, the beautiful bride, was shining as bright as the Colorado sun. David just beamed back at her all day long. It was so satisfying to witness their love in real time and also to be the one to capture all of the amazing moments that happened. I know that neither of them will ever forget it as long as they live! Neither will I. David happens to be the head chef for Copper Mountain Event Center & it meant a lot to them both to have their wedding there. The food was truly amazing and the service was absolutely top-notch!! Thank you so much to ALL the wonderful staff at Copper Mountain who helped make this wedding day such a brilliant success! I hope to work at this venue a lot more in the near future.
