Denver Engagement Photography: Laura and Dennis

I take it as a wonderful compliment when a couple books me to photograph their wedding without meeting me first.  Laura & Dennis found me on the Lodge at Vail’s preferred vendor list, which lends me a dose of credibility, yet still, their trust in who I am as a person and as a photographer really means a lot to me!  This adorable couple lives and works in New York, but are having their wedding this July in Vail.  I am SO looking forward to it!  Laura and Dennis and I met for the first time a few weeks ago at Hudson Garden in Denver to take their intimate engagement photos. I must admit, I had sort of forgotten what a great location Hudson Gardens is. There are lots of great little spots for photography and we had beautiful soft light- even if it was a “tad” chilly for a May afternoon in Colorado.  Laura and Dennis were both great sports and cooperated with all the goofy things I was asking them to do. We were able to mix it up, break the ice, and I eventually got a sense of their personalities before their big day this summer.  I was really happy to find that we had an easy and relaxed connection, after meeting them for the engagement session, I knew the wedding is going to be amazing, no doubt in my mind!  Thanks again Laura for choosing me sight unseen,  I love and appreciate your trust in me!  When my clients really trust me, I am able to be my most creative self. :)

Red Rocks Engagement Photos: Jess and Jim

Jess and Jim are dear friends of mine that have been around for lots of life’s up’s and down’s through the entire decade called our “twenties.” Phew, thank God we all survived that! Good thing too, because now we get to be 30-somethings together which is WAY more grown up and mature. Right?  ;-) Jess is not only a friend, but she has also stepped up to the challenge of managing me this year (yes, me!) and as a result, I have been able to make new goals for myself, both personally and professionally, that I am SO excited about moving forward into 2011 with.  She has been instrumental in my full acceptance of the need for a team of powerful people around me.  In order to create my reality and business the way I want it to be, I need help. There is just no way to do it all alone.  Knowing what you need help with in life is not a weakness, it’s actually a strength!  So, thank you to Jess for helping me come into that space more gracefully this year,  and for ALL the wonderful things you have brought and continue to bring to my life!! Some of my more recent and exciting memories with Jess and Jim involve flying down mountains, back-country skiing & snowboarding in dangerously deep and oh-so-lovely powder fields.  More Please! XOX  Now check out these gorgeous shots of them at Red Rocks with their kiddo, Nikko, the smiling dog.  :-)

Engagement Session over Aspen: Air Photography!

Charity is always a wonderful thing! :-) One of my couples bought an “Aspen Package” at a silent auction charity event and in it included a flight over Aspen.  Lucky for me, they hadn’t yet taken advantage of that piece before we scheduled their engagement session and I got to go with them!!  It was SO AMAZING.  Truly, a flight to remember forever.  The pilot, Polly, knew everything about the mountains and the surrounding area, so we had an exceptional air tour of all of the surrounding mountains.  There was a little window cut into the real window that opened for me to stick my lens through and since Tess and Scott sat together in the back, I got to sit next to the pilot and take photos out the window. The scenery from the air was just spectacular!  And if it looks like we were flying close to the mountain tops—we were!  It makes me excited for winter.  One day I hope I fly myself in and out of that airport.
I had a fabulous time with the lovely Tess Siler and her charming finace, Scott Simpson. After the flight we hung out and had lunch at then continued on to another spot for a more photos.  It was a gorgeous fall day, an amazing airplane ride, and an all-around fantastic time with two people I am happy to have as clients and friends.  I couldn’t ask for more for an engagement session!  I am so happy to be working with these two and looking forward to their wedding next spring at the Sanctuary with Ann Marlin from Cloud 9 Weddings and Papers.

Extreme Skiier Engagement Photography in Cordillera

I was so excited when I met with Jess and Jon initially as we all have one of my very favorite things in common- skiing!  Jessica Cumming is actually the #1 ranked female extreme skier in the country- How cool is that?!  She and Jon met each other…how else?  Skiing!  I suggested we do a winter engagement session on the mountain. :-)   In the end though, we decided to take advantage of the gorgeous fall colors.  We met in Cordillera early one morning and took a little tour of a beautiful aspen grove and some restored cabins.  I love the quality of the soft morning mountain light on them.  A big thanks to JoAnn Moore of Mountains and Meadows for bringing me this fabulous couple!  I am so excited for their wedding at Beano’s Cabin in Beaver Creek next summer.  Jess and Jon, I had such a great time with you and I’m so thrilled to be working with you!
