Colorado Springs Engagement Photography: Alison and Mike

When I was going to college at Colorado College in Colorado Springs, my friends and I spent a lot of time hiking and climbing around in the Garden of the Gods area, but it’s been years since I’ve been back.  When it was suggested as the location for an engagement session with one of my adorable couples for this year, I was ecstatic!  Perhaps my memory isn’t as sharp as I would like to think it is, or perhaps I’ve been in Colorado for so long that I take our state’s amazing landscapes for granted, but as I circled around the Garden of the Gods looking for ideal spots to shoot, I was flooded with a deep appreciation for this extraordinarily beautiful state that I live.  It was almost like seeing it all for the first time again.  After a quick loop in my car, I was feeling pretty confident that it wouldn’t matter where we went, because there didn’t appear to be an angle in any direction that wouldn’t work.  Once I met up with Alison and Mike and their adorable puppies, Sadie and Guy, I couldn’t wait to get started.  They were wearing their love for each other on their sleeves and needed very little to no direction from me!  :-)   We had a gorgeous day to work with and despite it being a popular tourist spot, I was able to crop and frame them to make it look like we were there all by ourselves.  Alison and Mike had their first date at the Garden of the Gods, so it was a perfect place to photograph them before their wedding this summer in Beaver Creek.

I always love photographing in new locations because it forces me to consider everything all at once- the light, the angle of the sun, the backgrounds, the lenses, etc. etc.  There is a lot to think about when I’m doing an engagement session and sometimes I default to locations I know well so that I can focus all of my attention on the couple.  But, there is something to be said about stretching myself to consider all of the photographic technicalities AND engage with my clients.   Talk about practicing my multitasking! Ha!  Alison and Mike, I can’t WAIT for your wedding!  Thank you for being so much fun to work with too.  We are going to have a blast together this summer…  2 months and counting!

Caitlin and Dan: Denver Engagement Photography

I always love photographing a fun engagement session, and it certainly doesn’t hurt when the bride and groom are totally adorable! Caitlin and Dan did an amazing job being relaxed, in love and comfortable for my camera. The natural light and fall colors were simply beautiful as we walked around Denver. I was sure to snap some photos as Caitlin and Dan jumped from rock to rock together, hand in hand.

I’m so excited to not only photograph their engagement session, but their Denver winter wedding as well! Caitlin and Dan will be getting married at the Montview Presbyterian Church in Denver in January, with the reception taking place at the Ritz-Carlton Denver. I know it’s going to be an amazing ceremony and party with a cocktail hour and flowers from the Newberry Brother’s Florist and Greenhouse. Thank you so much Caitlin & Dan for choosing me to be your photographer! Can’t wait for your big day in January!

Engagement Photography: Lauren and Nick

I was so thrilled to photograph Lauren and Nick’s engagement session in beautiful San Diego, California. We had a great time along the ocean with the beautiful sky, and who could forget their adorable Silky Terrier dog, Yogi!

Lauren and Nick like to have a good time, and are just a blast to hang out with! I simply cannot WAIT for their big wedding day, taking place on New Years Eve at the Cable center in downtown Denver with Table 6 Productions! It’s going to be a big party with lots of guests from out of town. It will be an amazing start to 2012- Can’t wait to see you two again for your big day!

Denver Engagement Photography in Wash Park: Tracy and Justin

What a beautiful day for some intimate engagement photography with Tracy and her soon to be husband, Justin in Denver at Wash Park.

This adorable couple met downtown at a bar, and as they say, the rest is history! Justin is a firefighter, and Tracy works for a seismic company. These two plan on getting married next June at Spruce Mountain Ranch in Larkspur, Colorado.

If these two aren’t out and about downtown Denver, or outside enjoying the beautiful weather, they are probably spending some time with their beautiful and loved golden retriever Bella. I had a great time in Wash Park with Tracy, Justin and of course Bella. We had a great time capturing some beautiful photographs of the happy trio, with colorful flowers and using the scenic background of Wash Park. Tracy and Justin were great models, they were very comfortable with each other, which created a soft and intimate feel for the photographs. These two were even willing to jump a couple of fences and get a little muddy! Bella did a great job looking right at the camera and just being incredibly adorable. That is, until she found the mud too! But even then she was cute. :)

I absolutely loved the save the date sign that Tracy had brought for the photographs! What a cute idea for Bella to wear it! I can’t wait to see all of them again for an amazing June wedding. It’s going to be gorgeous wedding in Larkspur, especially that time of year! Good luck with the planning guys and thank you for allowing me to capture your beautiful, and fun, engagement photographs!
