Pass on Paris. Ignore Italy. Anyone who has ever been to a wedding in Aspen, Colorado knows that the picture-perfect ski towns of the Colorado Rocky Mountains are the most romantic places on the planet. Even as a wedding photographer in Denver who has had the privilege of attending countless outdoor Rocky Mountain weddings, the landscape still drops my jaw each and every time. Whether it is a quiet church wedding outside of the city or wedding reception at a luxury ski resort, the incredible natural beauty that surrounds us never ceases to amaze me.
This lovely bride and groom exchanged vows in a beautiful ceremony in a private estate in Aspen, Colorado. As lovely as the indoor wedding and reception venues were, we knew we had to do as many outdoor couples photo shoots as possible. And, even as beautiful as the stunning bride looked in her dramatic ivory-white flowing wedding gown beside the dapper groom in his classic black tux, I had to step back with the camera for a moment to take it all in.
As we were exploring the grounds to find the perfect place for an outdoor wedding photo shoot of just the happy couple, we found a perfect angle of a rustic bridge crossing over a sparkling stream. As the two prepared to set off on the adventure of a lifetime together, meeting in the middle of their paths across the rocky waters seemed a perfect metaphor for their wedding day.
The newlyweds and I couldn’t have been more thrilled with the results of this wedding day outdoor photo shoot. The sun was at the perfect spot overhead to make the water below sparkle like a diamond. It reflected a vibrant glow behind the lush green landscape and brought all of the dramatic colors of the landscape to life.
