Baby Ava, 3 months: Colorado Baby Photography

Baby Ava is one of the little girl munchkins in my “Baby’s First Year” program and I just love every time that I get to see her!  She has the best personality with lots of fun smiles and great expressions for me to capture.  Not to mention a closet full of the cutest outfits around.  Her mommy has made a perfect prop for photo shoots too!  It’s basically a bean-bag chair that is stuffed a little tighter than a normal bean-bag and it has a bottom which allows it to sit flat on the ground without toppling over, and also a has little backrest built right in.  It’s the perfect thing to prop up a baby that is too young to sit on his or her own, and yet gives them a more upright position which makes photographing them a little more like portraiture and a little less like gymnastics.  :-)   Don’t get me wrong, my flexibility and balance has definitely been on my side during baby shoots with the little ones who have no control of their little bodies, who I generally have to place in a position on the ground and then practically do the splits over top of them and bend over close to their little bodies to get just the right angle and composition.  I have often caught myself holding my breath to steady myself and upon finally standing upright, felt the blood rush back to my body and out of my head leaving me with a slight dizzy feeling and a streak of little silver stars across my field of vision.  It sounds worse than it is, and I have yet to actually black out during a photo shoot (Thank Goodness!), but I have been very appreciate of the chair Christine made and keep thinking I need to make one to drag around with me to my baby photo shoots.  Or….  maybe Christine will make me one!  Hint Hint.  I may have a magic touch with my camera and Photoshop, but my craft making skills leave a lot to be desired. Seriously.

I can’t wait to see Ava, Christine and Mike (and let us not forget Mocha, the doggie child) again for our 6 months session, our 9 month session, and finally our 12 month session.  It will be so fun to look back on all of our photos and see just how much this gorgeous little baby angel has grown and changed over the course of her first year of life.  X’s and O’s to the Gregorek family!  Love you guys!!

Baby Photos Denver: Reagan’s 9 month photo shoot

Every time I photograph Reagan I am sure that our session can’t possibly be topped. But yet every time we meet she manages to get cuter and so do the photos!  This little doll-face is one of the funniest babies I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.  She makes the silliest faces and has some of the most hilarious expressions I have ever seen a baby make.  I just LOVE this little girl!  And her gorgeous mother, Natasha, never fails to have all kinds of darling clothes and props and ideas for us.  For this particular photo shoot we had 35 vases of colorful flowers (from grandma and grandpa’s wedding anniversary), Valentines day themed bears and chocolates, fur coats, and some of the most precious outfits I have ever seen for a little girl.  But more than any of that, we had Reagan.  Her bright little spirit is enough all on it’s own and it shines through her bright blue eyes right at you like the warmest most beautiful light you’ve ever seen.

I am so excited to design Reagan’s “babies first year” album.  There are so many amazing images from her newborn, 3 month, 6 month and now 9 month sessions,  I have no doubt that her one year session is going to be a great success too.  If I didn’t know better, I would venture to guess that this baby is just ALWAYS in a good mood. I have yet to see her so much as fuss, much less cry at any of our sessions thus far.

In about a month I will be taking Reagan’s one year photos and then the next day attending her 1st birthday party and I can’t wait!  Not that I want her to grow up any faster than she already has.  It feels like it was just yesterday that I was taking maternity photos… and now she’s almost one.  Natasha and Matt, thank you both SO much for being such wonderful friends, parents, and clients.  I love you and I love your daughter more than you know.  I look forward to not missing a beat when it comes to your lives and your beautiful family.  I can only hope that it continues to grow!!  XOXO

Baby & Family Photography in Colorado: Olivia is growing up fast!

Little Olivia is one of my new best baby friends that I have acquired in the past year.  Her mama and daddy have been dear friends of mine for the last 6 or 7 years and it has been a  joy to help welcome their first-born into this world, almost one year ago, this month.  I have been lucky enough to see her in the first week of her new life all the way up till now, and have loved every second we have  spent together!  I love this little munchie-face baby girl to the moon and back. Whenever I see her all I want to do is scoop her up, kiss her face, squeeze her legs and of course, photograph her.  Michelle and Michael wanted to capture her 9 month photos this past fall out doors and take advantage of the beautiful Colorado fall portrait weather.  Olivia was as cute as can be and the Gillette’s are all looking as happy and healthy as I can remember them ever being!  I love nothing more than seeing my friends have their babies and become moms and dads.  It makes me excited for the day I decided to get on that train too.  I can only hope that my own babies will be as darling and funny as my friends kiddos are.  I love being “Auntie Frances” and I know that one day I will also love being a mama too.  I almost feel sorry for my future children, because they are going to think my camera is actually a part of my face- ha!  But in all seriousness, baby photography has become a genre of photography that has morphed out of my wedding photography business as my clients started their families and began coming back to me for more…and it makes me so happy!  Not only happy and honored to see my clients coming back to me from more photography, but to be able to capture such important and fleeting moments in their children’s lives.  The first year in a baby’s life goes SO fast, and I love giving people images that will help them remember the innocence and beauty of the children that they brought into this big, crazy world.  Smoochie-pie baby girl.  Auntie Frances loves you!  XOXOX

Baby Photography Colorado: Izzy’s 9 months!

It’s funny, as I sit down to write about this baby girl, I am flooded with memories, visions really, as I can’t recall particular instances, just flashes in my mind of little girls with leotards and bare legs running barefoot down yellow tumbling mats, jumping onto a spring board and then high into the air splitting legs into an airborne straddle split, one after another.  Jump, jump, jump, ponytails flying and then a hard thump from the landing, one by one, onto the blue landing mat, finishing with the gymnast salute.  I can almost hear all the sounds mixing together, the footsteps down the mat, the smack from the impact on the board and the thud of the landing…  That was nearly 25 years ago.  This baby’s mama, beautiful Danielle, and I grew up together in the same small town, Fort Morgan.  And from dance recitals and gymnastic meets we grew up, went to middle school, then high school, and then out into the world in totally different directions.  And here we are all these years later, practically in the same Zip Code!

In a flash, I am at Standley Lake with Danielle, mere hours (literally) before she gave birth to Izabella, taking Maternity photos!  That might as well have been yesterday.  Except Izzy is already 9 months old.  Time is a funny thing…

It’s the history I have with Danielle that makes me extra excited every-time I get to photograph baby Izzy and the whole family, and this session was no exception!  Their new home is adorable and it was so fun to see Izzy in her own space, playing through the slats in her crib with Daddy, and then crawling all over the place and pulling down all her favorite books, which is all of them.  :-)

We went to the park and played on the swings and in the grass and baby Izzy was such a good sport!  These photos remind me that life really does goes on.  And the time just keeps moving faster with each passing year.  Danielle and Jim are doing something so special for their daughter and she has no idea.  These photos of her baby-hood will be priceless to her one day.  I’m sure of it.  I love that about what I do… Can’t wait to see them all again in a few days, I mean a few months, for the year old session!  Love you guys!
