A Special Send Off: Leah and Ryan’s Mountain Wedding in Beaver Creek

When Leah and Ryan decided to tie the knot on July 21, they were doing more than just picking a wedding date...they were planning the ultimate send off. These two were moving to Israel for the Foreign Service a week later and wanted to bid a fond farewell to their friends and family. Although Ryan is a German-born Oklahoma boy and Leah is a Boston girl with roots in New York City, they actually both met in D.C. in 2010. Thanks to a fateful extra ticket that Leah had to the Woolly Mammoth Theater Company and her friend knowing just the person who would love to go, well, the rest is history. ;) With a love for the mountains, adventure and all things outdoors, they chose the perfect setting for an intimate celebration: The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch. Leah's bridesmaids donned bright blue dresses and carried gorgeous wildflowers while rose petals dotted the aisle and simple yet stunning details created the perfect backdrop. (Nothing beats a summer wedding in Beaver Creek.) I loved how … [Read more...]

Destination Wedding & Destination Reception: Photography at Splendido, Beaver Creek CO

From the shining sea of Bora Bora where Katie and Kevin had their private destination wedding to the top of Beaver Creek mountain on a beautiful fall day, this couple certainly covered all their bases!  Unfortunately I was not invited to Bora Bora with them, but I did have the honor of photographing their gorgeous wedding reception at Splendido in Beaver Creek, CO where everyone had an amazing night full of delicious food and lots of wild dancing.  Heather Allen from Table 6 Productions was the coordinator extraordinaire for this intimate celebration with lots of fun details including old cruiser bikes and smore treats for all the guests. The amazing florals were done by the oh-so-talented Cindy Ollig at the Perfect Petal.  Add all of that to a spectacular blazing fall day and I was in photography heaven with nothing left to be desired in the visual candy department. Before the party began, Katie and Kevin and I met and drove to the top of the mountain to take advantage of the fall … [Read more...]

Westin Beaver Creek Wedding: Molly & Marc Delight

I am a firm believer in "sourcing."  Getting grounded, connecting to the earth, being present, and attracting the things I want into my life are all things I consciously work on.  The best place on earth that I have found to do this kind of spirit work is in the Colorado Rocky Mountains!  Somehow the Universe knew that in order for me to survive my action packed wedding season this year, it was going to be necessary to get me to those mountains over and over again.  Apparently the lack of snowfall last winter left me needing a little more mountain time this summer.  And while I did complain (loudly) about that, you won't hear me begrudging the summer drive to and from Beaver Creek nearly every wedding weekend since the beginning of June.  This year I booked more Colorado mountain weddings than any wedding season prior and I have loved every single one of them!  Molly and Marc's wedding was beyond incredible!  Not only was I photographing at a fab venue, The Westin in Beaver Creek, this … [Read more...]

Colorado Mountain Wedding Spectacular: Kelly & Connor say “I Do!”

It's true, I am sincerely blessed in my life and in my work, especially this wonderful summer of 2012.  The clients that have hired me to photograph their weddings this year have all been beyond wonderful to work with, and Kelly & Connor and their loving families were certainly no exception.  Kelly was as beautiful and graceful a bride as any photographer could ever hope for, and her darling groom, Connor, was the epitome of genuine and love-struck.  Besides that, it was an absolutely perfect summer day and the photo ops both inside and outside were not lacking in any degree.  Kelly's doll-like, porcelain complexion and Connor's bright eyes full of love and admiration left nothing to be desired from my perspective.  Never mind the perfect weather, the brilliant backdrop at the top of Beaver Creek mountain, or the incredibly gracious and classy group of guests and family members, numbering close to 300.  That said, it was a big day and a huge weekend for me. All I could do was keep … [Read more...]

Beaver Creek Wedding: Megan & Darren oh-so-in-Love

I had such a blast at this wedding with Megan and Darren and both of their incredibly sweet and gracious families.  From the moment I started communicating with Megan and her mother Mimi I knew I was going to love them!  They booked me with some of the nicest compliments on my work that I can remember getting.  And since they were planning the wedding from out of state/out of the country, we didn't actually meet in person until a couple of months before hand.  But as soon as we were in the same room together I knew that all of my instincts about them were right!  From the moment I laid eyes on them, I could feel their genuine goodness and warmth of spirit just pouring off of them like light.  And as if they weren't sweet enough all on their own, Mimi brought me the most delicious true Belgium dark chocolate I have ever tasted!  How she knew the way straight to my heart I'll never know-ha! Besides the wonderful couple and their great families, I also had the pleasure of working with … [Read more...]
