Anniversary Boudoir: Pictures worth 1,000 words

There are lots of reasons I can think of to do a boudoir photography session.  Top among them is purely the celebration of self!  The process is a uniquely empowering experience you are guaranteed not to soon (if ever) forget.  But more and more, I’m getting inquires from brides looking for a special gift for their grooms and from wives looking for a special anniversary gift for their husbands.  And why not?  What man wouldn’t love his very own “little black book” filled with gorgeous & mostly nude photos of his honey??  Exactly….

This particular session was done as a one year anniversary gift.  When my client first contacted me, she let me know right off the bat that she was extremely nervous about the whole idea but knew that her husband would absolutely die over it.  Especially since she was convinced that he would never think she would do it in a million and one years.  Careful fellas, we women are really good at surprising you!

Like I told this client when she voiced her concerns about “being curvy,” boudoir photography, in my humble opinion, is not a literal translation of the body.  The artistry is in finding the right angel, the right expression, and the right mood, to accentuate and focus on what is beautiful about you. That’s where I come in.

I had my A-team, Erin Ferris and Jaeger Standler, on hair and make-up, pampering our darling model while I got the room ready. Once we got started shooting, I watched her final nervousness melt away as I smiled at her from behind the camera and we took a few deep breaths together.  I always feel a sense of accomplishment when I finish a photo shoot like this one! Knowing that I helped someone do something totally outside their comfort zone is a great feeling.  When I empower others, it leaves me feeling empowered too.  Before I ever looked at a single image, I knew it was a huge success. I think I was right. Happy Anniversary you lucky guy you!

Miss Sophisticated: Denver Boudoir Photography

I absolutely love how these sensual boudoir photos came out! She totally rocked the corporate, sexy and elegant looks from head to toe for her boudoir session in Denver. I always love meeting a confidant woman who’s ready to strut her stuff, and this woman was no exception. Hey, if you got it- flaunt it! I always enjoy photographing classy and sophisticated styled boudoir portraits- it’s both classy and refreshing.

The term “boudoir” is not generally a new concept, as a matter of fact Hollywood stars such as Kathleen Meyers and Jean Harlow photographed in a boudoir style- and those are only a few names! That’s why classy and tasteful are major concepts that I mix into any boudoir photo shoot.

Boudoir photography sometimes can be distinguished from other artistic genres such as glamour photography, fine art nude photography, as well as erotic photography. After doing a little poking around online, I discovered that according to research carried out in Digital Boudoir Photography in 2006, John G. Blair said that the word “Boudoir” or “Boudoir portrait”, was used in 1980 by Motherlode Photography Studio in California to describe a picture more elegant than “erotic portrait” or “semi nude portrait”. That I would agree with!

Although it’s not a new idea, I have a feeling that this year is going to be all about boudoir. These popular photo-sessions are in high demand, and I’m ready to go. Lenses, roses, champagne and lingerie are all just waiting for you. Take a look at these photos and see if you think you’d want to do something like these lovely ladies! I’m always open for new ideas- and with this genre of photography- the possibilities are seemingly endless!

Well I must give a huge thank you, to this Miss sexy & sophisticated for the amazing photo-session, you were great and look phenomenal!

Sexy Snow Bunny

This brave, sexy snow bunny and I had lots of fun playing around in the snow to take some awesome boudoir photos! I loved how she matched her outfit with her snowboard, she looks so fabulous I can’t even stand it! I couldn’t of asked for a better woman to ROCK the snowboard and ski goggles. Like I’ve said, the entire idea and definition of boudoir photography continues to change and evolve- I love it.

Strong & Sexy: Denver Boudoir Photography

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; every boudoir photo-session is a little different. This particular photo-shoot was unique indeed, as we mixed in a new prop that I had never used before; an old-school barbell! This sexy, power house of a woman had no trouble moving that heavy thing around. She looked beautiful, strong and incredibly empowered. The actual experience of boudoir photography session is an incredibly daring, awakening and powerful occasion. This unique experience is an incredibly private opportunity that always seems to awaken the artistic, edgy and risqué side of any woman’s sexy, feminine and even alternative side. This tenacious lady is a proud mother of three and did these fearless portraits for her partner- a nice surprise for a birthday present! I can certainly see how she is a life & career coach! Thanks for the being so bold and brave, and for the kick-ass photo session!
